Like any professional, I’m bad at following my own advice.

For years, friends and clients have encouraged me to have a blog—of course, I didn’t do it.

Aside from being too lazy or too busy to write one, I didn’t know what subject to cover. Everyone’s done it after all: tips about copywriting, how to set up a freelance copywriting business, etc.

Another thing was, well, I wasn’t really sure whether or not I have anything to contribute to the subject of copywriting. But then again, having worked for nearly 15 years as a writer, maybe I do have something to add.

So here we are.

It began with a realization…

Many clients don’t know how to work with copywriters (but it’s not their fault)

I count myself lucky that the majority of my clients are exceptional both as professionals and people. But in general, clients get a bad rap from their copywriters. They give vague feedback, they pay too little, or generally just get in the way of being creative.

Then I thought: what if these clients actually wanted to work more productively with their copywriter but didn’t know how to do it? This might be the case if they’ve never worked as a creative.

And that’s why I’m blogging now.

In future posts, I’ll show you how to work better with your copywriter so you get the results you want and keep your working relationship as fuss-free as possible.

That sounds like a great idea in my head, but to be honest, I don’t know if this will get any readership at all. I’m just putting this out there for one or two people who might find this useful.

Learn how to work with other creatives too

While I’m keeping this within the realm of copywriting, the tips and advice I’ll be sharing may apply to other creatives too. So if you’re at a loss on how to work with your graphic artist, UX designer, or a similar person in your team, I hope you’ll find this helpful as well.

Let me know what you think—email me?

Now that you have a better idea of what I’m planning on writing about, I’d love to hear your thoughts too. If there are any pain points you need help with or suggestions you’d like to share, please email them to me at blog [at] solidoncopy.com.
